Five Things To Do In Downers Grove This Winter

Yes, we know that the winter can be a time of solitude. We often find ourselves staying inside, binging our favorite shows on Netflix, never leaving the couch while ordering everything off Amazon Prime. Luckily, at our luxury Maple & Main apartments, we got you covered with fun things to do in the urban-suburban chic town of Downers Grove. In no particular order, here are five sure-fire ways to shake off the winter blues:

1. Catch a movie at the Tivoli Theatre

This class, old-school theater will have you feeling like you are taking a step back in time, except with modern-day technology and screening. Located right off of Main Street on 5021 Highland Avenue, stop in with friends or by yourself to catch a screening of any new release or replay cinema. Come in on the weekends and enjoy organ music before the show! Rated #1 on Trip Ad visor for "Top Attractions" in Downers Grove, you will surely have an incredible movie experience at the Tivoli Theatre.

2. Get a Flight (and more) at Alter Brewing Company

At Alter Brewing Company, they describe their beer as "clean, creative and drinkable. It's the beer for whatever you're doing." Their taproom features rotating pop-up restaurants year-round, themed trivia on Tuesday nights, yoga classes with craft beer, and much more. Get together with your roomies, friends or family for an "The Office" themed trivia night or be sure to catch the Wednesday Growler and Crowler Special every week. Did I mention a chili cook-off? Visit their website to sign up!

3. Downers Grove Park District Museum

If you're a history junkie (like myself) you should probably check out the Downers Grove Park District Museum. Perfect for a lazy afternoon or a rainy day, this museum has satisfied locals for years. Located in a house and garage/barn, you can learn about the history of the Grove settlement, how the house played a huge role in the underground railroad system, and see various artifacts that a tour guide can explain in detail as well.

4. Get some fresh air at Hidden Lake Forest Preserve

They say that the best way to handle stress or a case of "the winter blues" is to get outside and get active. This preserve features over 2 miles of trails and Round Meadow Lake, a scenic route for a walk, job or bike ride. This preserve is know for its cleanliness and well-kept maintenance. Enjoy the fresh air, get some sunshine, and clear your mind here! You won't regret it.

5. The Fuzzy Logic Escape Room

If you haven't already experienced an escape room, you need to check out Fuzzy Logic. Located at 130 Ogden Ave, this facility features creative and whimsical game design and execution. Choose from 6 differently themed rooms for a night of mystery and adventure. Regardless of your age, this interactive experience pulls you out of your digital screening habits so you can work together with friends to a escape a room in an hour or less.
